Garth Brooks will play Yankee Stadium on July 9, his first New York show since more than 750,000 people flocked to see him in Central Park in 1997.

Since returning to touring in 2014, following a 14-year “retirement” to raise his children, Brooks has taken the unusual step of announcing his plans only one city at a time, playing multiple shows in each place, often even doing two shows in one night and setting attendance records as he goes. (He is playing six shows in Grand Rapids, Mich., this week and next.)

Tickets are $79.98 including fees and go on sale at 10 a.m. May 20 through Ticketmaster. There is an eight-ticket limit per purchase.

Brooks, the top-selling artist of all time, will play songs from throughout his career, including his 2014 comeback album “Man Against Machine,” which has gone platinum and brings his U.S. sales to 136 million.
